Dance Reading runs an ongoing programme of community projects, aimed at improving access to the arts.

We know that dance makes us feel better, it gets us moving, it makes us happy, and it connects us with other people. It is unique in its ability to improve both mental and physical health and we want everyone to have access to that.

Inspiring Playgrounds

This exciting new project brings two newly commissioned pieces of dance to Reading’s primary schools. Across 5 days of performance, over 1000 pupils will see work from two nationally renowned dance companies, engage in shaping choreography at rehearsal level, take part in dance classes and assemblies and be supported to access ongoing dance provision in their local area.

In partnership with The Place, London, Applause Rural Touring, and 101 Creation Space, funded by Arts Council England.

Turn it Up

Turn it Up was a participatory project for young people aged 10 - 16, using dance, music production and DJ skills, and media and videography to learn new skills, be creative and have fun. Young people worked all week to create their own music video and behind the scenes documentary, which they danced in, made music for, and filmed themselves.
